Nyngan Aboriginal Community invites SAI members to celebrate NAIDOC week.
NAIDOC Week is an annual event in Australia which celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It is an opportunity for all Australians to learn about the First Nations cultures and histories and participate in celebrations of the oldest, continuous living cultures on earth.
This year, members of the Sai Organisation of Australia from New South Wales were invited by the Nyngan Aboriginal community to be part of this celebration. Nyngan is a very remote & Outback township about 7 hours from Sydney and is one of the communities that was part of our recent Winter Appeal drive which provided warm winter clothing.
Our members took participated in the day-long event where they experienced, witnessed and learnt about the cultures and history of the indigenous community. The participation by our members has further strengthed our bonds with the Nyngan community and will provide further community service opportunities to support and serve this indigenous community.
