Winter packs give much needed warmth this winter to Aboriginal families in Remote Western NSW.
With the rising cost of living, many community members cannot afford to properly heat their homes or buy warm winter clothing to keep themselves and loved ones warm this winter.
This is even a more dire situation in remote & regional Aboriginal New South Wales communities where families live below the poverty line and don't have the basics to stay warm in extremely cold winters.
So as part of this year's Aradhana Mahotsavam offering, our members prepared Winter Essentials pack for needy families in 5 remote & regional Aboriginal communities in Western New South Wales. Blankets, beanies, hand gloves and socks were included in each pack. Through this winter packs, our members were given the opportunity to warm bodies and the hearts of the communities in this remote part of Australia.
20 NSW members, which included young adults drove upto 7 hours, distributed 340 Winter Essentials packs to needy families just in time for winter in Aboriginal Communities in Mudgee, Dubbo, Nyngan, Trangie & Narromine.
Terrie Milgate, Chief Executive Officer at Trangie Local Aboriginal Land Council, was very estatic and pleased to see the support given to their local community and shared the following message:
"A massive thank you to the Sai Organisation of Australia for visiting Trangie to hand out gifts that will help the families keep warm during the cold winter months. Your organisation has shown generosity and kindness to our community.
A big shout out also to the volunteers that have given up their time to visit the Regional NSW areas to deliver the gifts. It was lovely meeting you guys. Again, thank you..."
We are very grateful to the Aboriginal Land Councils of Mudgee, Dubbo, Nyngan, Trangie & Narromine for allowing & providing us with this divine opportunity to support their local communities.
We are also grateful to our members across New South Wales (Regions East & West) for their generous support for this community service initiative. This is the first of many more community service opportunities we will get to share with the Aboriginal communities in Western NSW.
